Tony Rice’s “Big Spike Hammer” Break (Full Lesson + Tabs + Speed Builder)

In this lesson, we’re diving deep into one of the most iconic flatpicking breaks from Tony Rice on Big Spike Hammer with the Bluegrass Album Band.

I’ll walk you through the entire break note-for-note.

Learning a break is a great exercise in seeing how players play over chords while getting some melody in there!

We start by learning the break slowly and clearly, then build it up step-by-step until you can play it at full speed with confidence. I've written out the TAB with pick stroked included that you can DOWNLOAD BELOW
