I'm not sure there is such thing as "Funk standards" they way you have jazz standars and even blues standards, but if there was this would be at the top of the list. Outside of JamesBrown's world Today we are going to learn how to play one of the most classic funk riffs of all time "Cissy Strut" by the Meters. This is an instrumental funk tune that revolves around just two riffs. When you play it live you can really shred some sick solos, with C blues scale and the C Mixolydian being the two best ways for you to really shred the solo. This will make a great instrumental addition to your band's set list, a warm up before you jam, a song you can play-aong to to practice your 16th note shredding, hammer ons, pulls offs, all kinds of good stuff packed into two little riffs, and the most important of all, it is a ton of fun to play!
