Albert King is one of the three KINGS of the Blues, along with Freddie, and of course, B.B.
A towering figure of modern guitar (literally - the man was 6'7" and 250 lbs.). With a sound as big as he was, emanating from an upside-down Flying V, he left his fingerprints on countless blues and rock guitarists, influencing everyone from Jimi Hendrix to SRV and beyond.
This solo is one of his most famous - millions have heard it without even realizing it, since Eric Clapton pretty much lifted it note-for-note and used it for the solo to Cream's "Strange Brew".
As for this cover, I played it straight into a Boss Katana with about half gain (guitar is a '91 Strat Plus Deluxe w/Lace Sensor pickups.) For the bends around the 0:20 second mark, I used my 2nd finger so that I could push that last one up 1.5 steps. I normally would use my first finger, but I had just broken my string and only had a 12 gauge high E to replace it with.
This is a standard 12-bar blues in Ab. It's a weird key for guitarists (but a good key for the horn accompaniment). To adjust to playing in Ab, simply take everything you know about A minor pentatonic and move it one fret towards the headstock. It's not that hard to adapt after a while.

For the bend at 0:46, bend the first string and as you are pushing it, you want to catch the 2nd string under your same finger and continue bending. Since the bends are unequal (due to string tension), the second string will be slightly flat against the in-tune first string bend, creating a sort of screaming sound when you get it right. Keep t...
