Here is my cover and interpretation of the bassline to My Girl by the Temptations. This tune, being the Temps' first no1 single, was a big hit for the group and the Motown label. It was written by Smokey Robinson, who took inspiration for the song from his wife, Claudette.

Unlike much of Jamerson's playing, this tune is perhaps one of his simpler lines. The 3 note opening phrase in particular shouldn't prove difficult but it is highly effective and a signature part of the song. Playing My Girl well is all about good timing and good feel. The tune is mostly comprised of root notes and some scaler tones here and there, with some muted notes thrown in to add some flair. Feel free to sprinkle other note choices in, you may notice I have done this in some parts of the play through, but don't over do it. It's more important here to maintain the minimalistic approach and good feel.
