"Sweet Child O' Mine" is one of the most iconic rock songs by Guns N' Roses, released in 1987 as part of their debut album, Appetite for Destruction. Written by lead guitarist Slash, frontman Axl Rose, and the rest of the band, the song features a memorable and distinctive guitar riff, which Slash initially created as a warm-up exercise. Axl Rose’s heartfelt lyrics were inspired by his then-girlfriend, Erin Everly.
The song quickly became a massive hit, reaching #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, and is known for its soaring vocals, emotional depth, and powerful guitar solos. "Sweet Child O' Mine" remains a staple in rock music history, influencing generations of guitarists and being a defining track for the band.
I am using a Gibson Les Paul on the neck pickup with some tone rolled off. For amp i am using a fender Princeton and Suhr Riot distortion pedal.
The original recording used a Les Paul and I Assume a Marshall. I think I got fairly close? let me know what you think in the comments!
