[I'm LIVE] The Solutions (솔루션스) & My Youth (청춘)

The Solutions is a Korean indie band and the founder of the genre “future pop,” which combines classic rock with current mainstream pop sounds from the UK and American regions.

Their experimenting and genre-blending music with neat melody lines, well-organized dance beats, and rock vibes quickly attracted attention and fascinated critics and music fans. The second album “MOVEMENTS” was particularly crucial in highlighting experimental elements and opened opportunities for overseas activities.

With that momentum, the quartet toured around Asia, Europe, and the U.S., including a 6-city U.S. concert tour in 2016. In 2020, the four hosted the “Dance with me” challenge named after their song of the same title and once again showed their ability to create something new every time. Most of their songs are written in English despite having no native English-speaking members. This definitely speaks to their efforts to push the boundaries of all kinds, which is a key feature of future pop.

In commemoration of the 10th anniversary of their debut, The Solutions released the EP, “TIME,” in April this year. Vocalist Park Sol composed, wrote, and produced all the songs in the album, with keyboardist and arranger Jung Dong-hwan from MeloMance. Unlike other albums, all the songs in “TIME” were written in Korean.

In this episode, The Solutions perform “Sound of the universe,” and “Dance with me,” as well as “My Youth,” and “The Middle” from their new album, “TIME.”

2016년에는 미국투어를 진행, 주요 6개 공연장에서 성공리에 공연을 마치며 북미 최대의 부킹 에이전시 중 하나인 '윈디시'와의 계약을 체결하며 해외활동을 이어나갔으며 주로 국내외 대형 페스티벌과 공연을 중심으로 활동하며 이름을 널리 알렸다.

솔루션스의 음악적 특징 중 하나인 영어 가사는 그들이 지향하는 팝과 록의 경계를 자유로이 넘나드는 퓨처팝 사운드의 하나의 표현이기도 하며, 또한 밴드의 시그니처로 자리잡기도 했다.
